An arena teeming with enthusiastic sports fans - it's a vision normally realized in
Atlanta only during playoffs. Historically, encouraging regular attendance at Atlanta's
professional athletic events has been challenging. And this phenomenon isn't limited to
Atlanta; many other cities with professional sports teams face the same situation.
Devoted season ticket holders not only bring critical revenue to the team owners, they
add vibrancy and excitement to the venue and the surrounding metropolitan area. We have
developed a concept that will promote an increased interest in athletic contests and
season ticket participation.
This concept is FanShare. It is based on the idea of a series of sought-after awards to
season ticket holders that will infuse sports fans with feelings of ownership and
commitment to the team. FanShare will develop long-term commitment in sports fans
who were previously only periodic attendees. Ex. A random drawing would determine the awardees,
perhaps held in a public venue or at the team's first game of the season.
The first award would be a share in the team's financial package should the team make it
to the league championship series or game. The amount of the award would be equal to a
player's share. The second award would be a salary for one season what would be
commensurate with that of a practice squad player. The third award would be for one
lucky season ticket holder to have player privileges during a game - to site on the team
bench, be present in the locker room at half time, enjoy priority parking and other
advantages. A new awardee would be named periodically.
We are confident that FanShare will dramatically increase interest in Atlanta's sports
teams and will fill empty season ticket blocks. Teams with capacity crowds can also
utilize FanShare to demonstrate gratitude for fan loyalty and participation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Daniel J. Whitner
